Lawrence Heights Community Food Bank
The Lawrence Heights Community Food Bank provides food assistance for Lawrence Heights and surrounding neighbourhoods as well as information and referral services for those communities. Co-located with our main office, North York Harvest has been coordinating the local food bank program in Lawrence Heights since we moved to this location in 2001.
As with other food assistance programs in our catchment, participants can access a 3-day food basket twice per month during any of our drop-in hours. A typical food basket includes staples such as canned and dry goods as well as bread, bulk food items and perishables. The program also provides information and referral services for people seeking additional supports such as employment, settlement, mental health, education, and government resources.
With the support of our community garden program, the Lawrence Heights Community Food Bank maintains 20 raised bed planters which produce a variety of vegetables during the growing season.
