Whole Foods Market Yonge & Sheppard

When Whole Foods Market Yonge & Sheppard moved into the North York neighbourhood in the fall of 2014, they brought with them a passion for supporting their local community members in need.

“Supporting our local and global communities is a core part of our business culture. Our team members are part of the local North York Toronto community and they are passionate about supporting the local causes that are important to our shoppers and neighbours. Each store donates food to area food banks and shelters. We have food; and the great folks at North York Harvest know how to get it to people who need it.”

Since opening, Whole Foods Market Yonge & Sheppard formed a relationship with North York Harvest. Last winter their “Feed 4 More” campaign collected donations at check out in support of North York Harvest’s holiday food drive.

Whole Foods Market Yonge & Sheppard has also sponsored North York Harvest’s Community BBQ by providing delicious food and drinks, and had their talented grill masters out cooking up delights to the hundreds of local community members that attended

About Whole Foods Market

As the world’s leading natural and organic foods grocer, Whole Foods Market will continue its mission in supporting sustainable agriculture and the environment by offering natural and organic foods, with no artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats.

Supporting communities, and the various nonprofits and educational institutions where Whole Foods Market stores are rooted is an integral part of the culture.  Several times a year, Whole Foods Market stores hold community-giving days, also known as 5% Days, where five percent of that day’s net sales are donated to a local nonprofit or educational organizations. Another way the company gives back to the communities is through the One Dime at a Time program. This program rewards customers who bring their own bags for shopping. At the register, they have the option to receive a 10-cent bag refund as cash back off their receipt or they can choose to donate it to that month’s selected charity organization.

Whole Foods Market Team Members also participate in community outreach in many creative and meaningful ways. From handing out bananas and water bottles at a 5K Walk or Run fundraiser, to participating in a healthy eating class at a local library, community center, or community group. One of Whole Foods Market’s Core Values is to serve and support local and global communities, and the Team Members take this value to heart.
